We are the 22Cares Foundation because I had the honor and privilege to wear the number “22” for ten years during my hockey career. While forming the Foundation in late 2016, I discovered that the number 22 represents the spiritual Light, which gives end to suffering on earth, aims to make the world a better place (Inspired Awareness blog). Expect miracles with this special number!

WHY WE ARE DOING THIS

My mother was diagnosed in 2012 with Alzheimer’s. While it took some time for this to sink in and after extensive research, I finally realized and accepted that I was not going to be able to help my mother due to the advancement of the disease. However, because of my love for my mother, I want to help as many people as I can. I want my mom’s life to have meant something. She fought a courageous battle and succumbed to the disease in 2017.

In 1995, my wife’s father was diagnosed and passed away from pancreatic cancer. And, unfortunately, her Dad was not the only family member to succumb to cancer. There are just too many family and friends that have been lost to some form of cancer. We want to help to reduce the deaths from this disease.

OUR FOCUS

Our sole purpose is to fund Alzheimer’s and cancer research projects, such as programs found at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Barrow Neurological Institute, Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Center, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, and TGen . It is our goal to find a cure for Alzheimer’s and all types of cancer and to find a test that will detect all types of cancer, before it is too late.
